First, be sure you understand the assignment. I also do French homework, but that’s easy. Later in the academic career is when a child learns from the homework in addition to the learning that happens in school. As long as you each do the work separately, you shouldn’t have any problems. These places may have worked when you were younger and your assignments didn’t require as much skill and concentration. The first place to turn for help is your teacher. Sylvan Learning Center and other businesses have after-school hours that you can schedule appointments at to get help studying and completing your homework, while community centers like the YMCA, or even public libraries will often have homework help hours in your area.

You’ve got to divide your time appropriately, making prioritizing an important step. If you have a set time every day to do work, you will find that the work is easier – treat homework like a job and just get it over with.

A tutor may have broad knowledge of many things or may be trained in just one subject. Make it impossible to cheat. It’s not cheating if everyone’s doing the work and no one’s just copying. The students answered questions on how often they did homework and what the distribution of subjects within that time was, following which they were given a standardized test for math and science performance.

That homework doesn’t need to be a struggle now. It’s okay to stop when you can’t figure something out after a serious effort and ask your teacher for help. Well, in my opinion, there is too much homework. Try starting with the most valuable homework. But don’t pick someone you’ll be up all night chatting with or you’ll never get it done! Keep track of how long you usually spend on particular assignments on average.

Pop in some headphones to white noise that’ll drown out the shouting of other students and tune into your book. Some studies have shown that a change in environment can make your mind more active, since it’s processing new information. The first, best, and most important resource for homework help should be the teacher who assigned it. Be sure to put it safely away in your backpack — there’s nothing worse than having a completed assignment that you can’t find the next morning or that gets ruined by a careless brother or sister.

At the end of the school day, when you’re getting ready to start on your homework, try to figure out what the most important assignments are and put them in the appropriate order to give yourself enough time to complete everything you need to do.

Hit the bathroom and make sure you’ll be able to work for the amount of time before your next break, uninterrupted. You might also be able to get some help from another student. From the starting time to the end time.

Work together on the math problems and try to figure out things together. If you’ve got three days to read an assignment, don’t wait until the last evening to do it all. If your fourth grader is supposed to spend about 45 minutes on homework four times per week, clear a spot at the kitchen table, turn off the television and set a timer for those 45 minutes.

If you don’t quite finish, give yourself a few extra minutes. Asking for help doesn’t mean asking your parent to do your work for you.
